CBR Commercials were commissioned to carry out a full external yard upgrade for a long-standing industrial client in the Wirral.
The works involved breaking out and removing the existing damaged surface, installing new drainage infrastructure, and constructing a heavy-duty reinforced concrete yard suitable for HGV and plant traffic.
Scope of Works
Our in-house team handled the complete project from start to finish, including:
- Site clearance and excavation
- Installation of linear drainage channels and catch pits
- Sub-base preparation with MOT Type 1 aggregate
- Steel reinforcement and concrete pour
- Power-floating and curing to achieve a smooth, high-strength finish
Challenges
The client required the yard to remain partially operational throughout the works.
To minimise disruption, we implemented a phased delivery plan that allowed access for essential vehicle movements while maintaining safety and quality control on site.
Our Solution
Using phased sectional pours and rapid-setting C40 concrete, we completed each area in sequence while drainage components were installed ahead of schedule.
All levels were carefully set to ensure positive water runoff and eliminate future pooling issues.
Regular on-site inspections ensured compliance with structural and drainage specifications.
Results
The finished yard provides a robust, low-maintenance surface designed for high-impact industrial use.
Improved drainage has significantly reduced surface water accumulation, extending the lifespan of the new concrete and enhancing site safety.
